THE MED/ALLY FILMS FUND AUCTION: Singer-songwriter, filmmaker and essayist Patsy Moore is a cancer survivor who continues to battle Lupus and a less common autoimmune disorder which manifests as chronic adrenal insufficiency. Patsy, like many Americans, does not have health insurance. Since 2008, she (with the help of friends and family, and via a special fund) has attempted to meet two critical goals—one involving the purchase of home healthcare equipment to reduce her ongoing medical expenses, and the other involving the pay-down of substantial medical debt. In April 2009, the fund team managed to knock out the first of those. Now, they're onto the second. This time, however, Patsy and friends are doing something other than simply accepting straight monetary donations; they're conducting an auction, the proceeds of which will be applied toward the aforementioned Med Fund goal #2 and the creation of a not-for-profit film company that will produce projects intended to draw widespread public attention to people in dire need.
